May 1945 ‘Victory in Europe Day’ was celebrated with a church service, a dance in the Village Hall and a bonfire in Mr Harris’ Home Field.

August 1945 ‘Victory in Japan Day’ was celebrated with a church service, children’s sports in the village street (as the recreation ground at the Village Hall was too wet due to rain) and a dance in the Village Hall in the evening.

1945 Four houses erected on Stretton Lane were taken over by the Rural District Council and became the first Council Houses in the parish

1947 Ten more Council Houses were built on a paddock in Scotland Lane previously belonging to Mr Sykes. This new cul-de-sac formed by these houses was called The Rise. Public street lighting installed on Main Street

August 1950 – Village Fete was so popular that the bus companies organised specials to bring people from Leicester. 1800 people attended that year.

Early 1950s – Mains sewers were put in the village (think it may be 1954)

1951 – population of the village was 600

1955 Telephone Kiosk erected by Village Hall

1957 Larger Post Box and Stamp Machine erected near to the Post Office at 35 Main St.
