CORONATION YEAR 1953

The Coronation entertainment committee met in the Village Hall and raised funds for the celebration from the following events:

  • Sat 21 Feb Social
  • Thurs 19 March Garden Society’s Bring and Buy Sale (am) Dance (pm)
  • Fri 27 March Whist Drive
  • Sat 11 April The ‘Matadors’ Concert Party
  • Sat 18 April Dance and British Legion Prize Draw

The Coronation Queen was Miss Ann Mountford who rode in a horse drawn golden coach 

Coronation Day Celebrations – 2nd June 1953

9.30 – 9.55 am Church Service

2.30 for 3 pm Village Procession (Ingarsby Lane to Village Hall Field)

3.20 pm Fancy Dress Judging

3.40 pm Maypole Dancing

4 pm Sports

Prize Giving for all Children’s Events by the Coronation Queen

8 pm Dance in the Village Hall

10 pm – 2 am Grand Dance to Morrells Band

11 pm Adults Sports and Procession Prize Giving

 

Saturday 6th June (in Village Hall)

3.45 pm Old Folks Tea

4.45 pm Childrens Tea

Entertainment by Wilfred Oldham and Billy Lennard

Magical Show by Tom Thomas

Village Social of Fun, Games and Dancing 8 – 11.45 pm
