The Coronation Weekend 5th – 8th May

FRIDAY 5TH MAY
Village Hall – Community Coffee Morning 9.00 – 12 noon
Have you been to the Community Coffee morning yet? We run every Friday morning at the Village Hall. To kickstart the fun filled Coronation weekend we plan to start at 9am so that parents and carers might drop in after the school run. Later arrivals will be most welcome. Please call in for a free coffee and chat.
Village Hall – Coronation Tea Dance 2.00 – 4.30 pm
With afternoon tea and sparkling wine for a toast to the new King at the Village Hall. A fun event with a party atmosphere and no pressure to join in the dancing. If you just want to come along for afternoon tea, listen to the music and enjoy the event, please do. Tickets £5 each available from Franklin and Mary Woodcock 0116 2418183 woodcock565@btinternet.com
Priority given to Houghton residents, but please book early.
SATURDAY 6TH MAY
Village Hall – Coronation Screening 11am onwards
Watch this historic event live on the large screen at the Village Hall. The Coronation Ceremony is due to start at 11am, followed by a procession of the newly crowned King and Queen, together with members of the Royal Family, back to Buckingham Palace. Free refreshments and a bubbly toast will be served.
Outside games and geocaching to entertain the younger audience. The Village Hall will be open throughout the day so pop on your red, white and blue and come along.
Houghton Field Association – Family Event 6 pm onwards
At the playing field on Weir Lane. A family games evening with food and drinks available. Bouncy Castle, outdoor games, rounders, football, table tennis, skittles, silent disco.
Firework Display at Dusk
SUNDAY 7TH MAY
St Catharine’s Church – Coronation Service 10.30- 12 noon
A service at St Catharine’s Church celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III, and praying for him and his government.
Village Hall – Big Sunday Lunch 12.30 -3.30pm
Hosted by St. Catharine’s Church, everyone is welcome to come along to The Village Hall and green will be open, both areas will be decorated for the occasion. Tables and chairs will be set out, both inside and on the green.
The Big Sunday Lunch to celebrate with friends and neighbours. Do bring any games that your children might like to play. Table tennis available.
Please bring a picnic to include food, drinks, crockery, glasses, and cutlery.
Bell Ringers
St Catharine’s Church Bell Ringers will be ringing over the weekend.
